New York Senator Charles Schumer and House Speaker and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi have made themselves look more ridiculous than normal.
After Senate Democrats blocked a police reform bill from Sen. Tim Scott and Republicans on Thursday they took to the microphones on Friday to tell everyone how important the legislation is to them.
But the fact is that what is important to them is to have the police reform issue as a campaign issue and they showed that when they could not get George Floyd’s name correct.

“Who do you believe when it comes to civil rights and police accountability? Mitch McConnell? Or the lawyer for the families of Floyd Taylor, um, George Taylor, um George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, Schumer said during a speech in the Senate.
Not to be outdone, Speaker Pelosi addressed the media after Sen. Schumer’s speech and bragged that her legislation honored George Kirby.
She was speaking to reporters and said that George Floyd’s brother asked her if the bill would be named for his brother who was killed in a confrontation with police.
And she said that she would recommend it to the Judiciary Committee and the Congressional Black Caucus.
“And I said ‘I’ll recommend that to the Judiciary Committee and to the Congressional Black Caucus who have shaped the bill, but I only will do that if you tell me that this legislation is worthy of George Kirby’s name,’ and he said it is, and so we’re very proud, we’re very proud to carry that,” she said.
George Taylor, Floyd Taylor, George Kirby and whatever other names they can think of. It shows how much they care.
If they had spent any time thinking about George Floyd, they would have his name ingrained in their memories.
The majority of Americans know the name of Floyd as it has been in the news for weeks during protests and riots after he was killed.
It came the day after Senate Democrats blocked a police reform bill authored by Sen. Scott who accused Democrats of putting politics ahead of the American citizens.
“They cannot allow this party (Republicans) to be seen as a party that reaches out to all communities in this nation,” Sen. Scott said.
The misnaming of the victim was all the fodder that conservatives on Twitter needed to lace into the two Democrats.
“So Nancy Pelosi referred to George Floyd as ‘George Kirby’ and Chuck Schumer called him ‘Floyd Taylor’ and ‘George Taylor.’ These are the people blocking police accountability legislation,” Matt Wolking said.
“Sen. Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi are going to fight for Floyd Taylor, I mean George Taylor, I mean George Kirby. They really care about #BlackLivesMatter,” Carmine Sabia said.
“Nancy Pelosi referred to George Floyd as ‘George Kirby’ further proving the fact she doesn’t care about Black Americans other than for their votes,” Brigitte Gabriel said.
“Great to see that Nancy Pelosi and the House Dems decided to name their Police Reform bill after the great black comedian George Kirby!” Dr. Darrell Scott said.
